State Senator Bill Reineke

Dear Neighbor,

Hopefully you and your family enjoyed the holiday season and are preparing and planning for a happy and healthy new year!

2023 has been a busy year in the Ohio Senate and our local community, especially for workforce development and ensuring the health and safety of our communities. This newsletter highlights these successes and looks ahead to our shared goals in 2024.

One of these successes was the operating budget we passed last June, which is balanced with income tax deductions, with the highest rate at 3.9% and the elimination of tax brackets from four to two.

As always, I welcome your ideas and thoughts as we move forward together. Please reach out to my office by email at Reineke@OhioSenate.gov, or by phone at (614) 466-8049 if I can help in any way.

Looking Ahead to 2024

We are planning and preparing for 2024.

Our 2024 list:
Expanding Internet Access:

The internet connects its users to information, jobs, and educational resources. Access is imperative to maintain quality of life in the 21st century, but not every home has this ability.

Expanding internet access is a goal the state of Ohio is diligently working on. Continuing this mission is an important goal in 2024. Learn more here.

Increasing Landfill Oversight:

Getting Senate Bill 119 across the finish line is incredibly important. Increasing proper oversight over our landfills gives Ohio's citizens peace of mind, especially for their health and well-being. I look forward to continuing conversations with my colleagues in the Ohio House to pass this bill.

Securing Capital Grants

In 2024, the legislature will consider the capital budget, which helps fund eligible local projects across Ohio. These funds are incredibly helpful to communities looking for dollars they can utilize for projects that improve quality of life for citizens. We will also consider funding other projects using the One-Time Strategic Community Investment Fund. These dollars are for transformational investments across the state that positively affect the lives of Ohioans.

Protecting Private Property Rights and Our Waterways:

I introduced Senate Bill 156 with my colleague Senator Bob Hackett. The bill protects both property owners and waterways throughout the state.

The idea for this legislation came directly from a constituent of mine, Carl Miller, and other Ohioans. Senate Bill 156 clarifies the law to ensure protections against private property use restrictions and other landowner concerns. The bill also extends the public comment period from 30 to 60 days for proposed wild, scenic or recreational river designations.

The bill was reported out of the Senate Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee. I look forward to a floor vote!
